Sohar Hospital’s current state of applying Lean Six Sigma tools, and automation to their medication and medical supply inventory management system:
Lean six sigma:
As of now, the only Lean tools and techniques applied to the Sohar hospital inventory management system are the 5s, and other tools and techniques have not yet been implemented
In addition, we need to define other Lean and Six Sigma tools and techniques capable of being applied to the inventory management system but are not currently being used
Automation:
With the Al Shifa 3plus system, we were able to automate the inventory management system in the hospital, connecting all of the hospital’s departments and wards to the main Hospital Medical Store where all inventory transactions were automatically tracked.
We also need to define potential automated inventory management solutions that are not currently used but are capable of being applied.
Research field:
Uses of modern technology and lean six sigma management tools in improving inventory management processes in a hospital.
