Writing Assignments #2
Thinking critically
Identify points of meaning in your own writing:
• Choose 2 points, statements of fact/belief, from Writing Assignment #1.
Select points that can be reversed to contradict your statement. Label them A1 and A2.
• Choose the original statement that can most readily be argued against and list it again labeled A1 or A2.
Write an argument or disagreement with your original statement choice.
It may be a difference of opinion that can be clearly understood.
• Write one or two paragraphs, about ½ page, on this topic: discuss this position as if was your actual point of view.
Support the position with examples that you may have witnessed, read about or that you imagine to be relevant to this new opinion.
To receive an A, you must turn the assignments in at class on the due dates.
Correct spelling and sentence structure are expected (word-processed or typed, 12 font, double-spaced).
Requirements: 1 – 1 1/2 pages in length, complete heading with name, title as above, and professional academic presentation (word-processed or typed), font: 12, double spaced.
