African American History Discussion

**Must be original work work**

**Due date 5/13/18 – 8pm Eastern Standard Time**  

From the first e-Activity and this week’s readings, inventory at least two (2) legal setbacks African-Americans faced between the years 1877-1896. Examine the considerable impact of the legal decisions in question on the lives of African-Americans. Next, illustrate at least two (2) methods in which African-Americans flourished in the face of legal setbacks, and determine the degree to which such methods proved substantial in the fight against segregation. Provide a rationale for your response.

Overview of reading for week 

Chapter 14 most relevant to discussion- deals with methods to disenfranchise black voters, grandfather clause how/where/why segregation began, jim crow, racial etiquette, violence, riots, black migration from south, exodusters 

Chapter 15 deals with social Darwinism, educations and schools, church and religion, discrimination in the army, treatment of black professionals in law/medicine music sports
